This is a short guide to get you started when writing content for our website.
We use a content management system called Drupal. The content does not exist as separate pages (or .html files) but as one or several entries in a database.
Traditionally a webpage has the text you want to publish as well as menus, images, related links, all written in that one file. With a content management system the menu, images, related links, and much more, is pulled in dynamically when the page is browse.
Instead of 'webpages' we now talk about 'content', which can have different forms depending on their purpose. Because the purpose of a blog entry is to tell people what your experience has been about something (it can be a conference you attended, an education activity you tried, or some engineering work you've just finished), you can think of it like a news item. This is very different from an education activity, which will have to fill out goals, objectives, extra reading, observing time needed, the age range its suitable for etc.
To get your newly written content to appear in the correct places on the website, there is a little a bit magic which you need to know about. This guide some tutorials on how to add and edit the most common types of content which will appear on our website.
