M57
M57 - The Ring Nebula is a planetary nebula in the constellation Lyra, and is one of the most recognisable in the night sky. The nebula is about 2300 light years from Earth.
The nebula is expanding at the rate of approximately 1 arcsecond per century, which equals about 20-30km/s. This growth has been observed directly from images taken at intervals of 50 years.
The image above was taken through the H-Alpha, O-III and H-Beta filters on Faulkes Telescope North. They were assigned to the Red, Green and Blue channels respectively.
