LCOGT was involved in the 2008 Royal Society Science summer exhibition held in London earlier this month. Our exhibit was entitled “Is there anybody out there? Looking for new worlds” and was a great success with the visitors. There were three general themes, each outlining the most popular methods used to detect planets, Doppler shifts (wobbles), microlensing (blips) and transits (winks).
- Some of the videos that were on display can also be found on the exhibit website.
- The microlensing “live” display, which includes our data, is also available.
Two pictures taken by Carole Haswell of the Open University:
Live microlensing display we had running (the public could see live microlensing data coming from the FTs, the LT and the Danish telescope in Chile).
A video display describing the transit method (with a superWASP camera underneath).
