SEMS Core Requirements

Discipline:

See comments for current discussion..

The core requirements for SEMS are the environment-related data determined to be necessary at every LCOGT site. This data will come from LCOGT-operated sensors.

The core SEMS system is split into two levels of monitoring: 1) Critical monitoring, and 2) Operational monitoring. Critical monitoring sensors are necessary to protect the telescope from weather. Operational monitoring sensors are necessary for a successful LCOGT network, but are not critical for asset protection.

SEMS Database

Discipline:

There are multiple tables of data necessary in SEMS. These will primarily live on site, but will be replicated back to SBA.

The different tables are:

  • Internal instrument data: Data recorded from LCOGT-run instruments.
  • External environment data: Data read from external instruments, websites, or feeds that has been used by LCOGT.
  • Event logging: Explanation of a site change of status, what factors led to the decision.
